3780699 - RPCIPE00 Fails with "For Tax Code XX, the Key Date 00/00/0000 Does Not Fall in Any Validity Period"

Symptom

When running report RPCIPE00, payroll posting fails with an error similar to:

For tax code XX, the key date 00/00/0000 does not fall in any validity period.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Run report RPCIPE00 in the HR system.
  2. Post payroll data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
  3. The posting fails because the tax date is determined as 00/00/0000, which does not fall within any maintained validity period for the tax code.

Cause

For countries/regions where Time-Dependent Taxes (TDT) are active, the G/L account tax attributes have not been maintained in SSCUI 103423 – Maintain G/L Account Tax Attributes for Time-Dependent Taxes. As a result, the system cannot determine the correct tax date for the payroll posting.

Resolution

  1. Open SSCUI 103423 – Maintain G/L Account Tax Attributes for Time-Dependent Taxes.
  2. Maintain the relevant G/L account and tax code used for payroll postings.
  3. Enter a Valid From date that corresponds to the applicable validity period of the tax code maintained in SSCUI 101016 – Define Tax Codes for Sales and Purchases.
  4. Save the configuration.
  5. Run RPCIPE00 again.
