3780833 - "Rules for Metadata of MDF Objects" does not trigger in Manage Data / Manage Positions

Symptom

A rule with "Rules for Metadata of MDF Objects" scenario has been configured and added to a MDF Object. When performing a change via Manage Data (or Manage Positions), the rule is not triggered (did not even show up in Rule Trace).

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Metadata Framework
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Rule with "Rules for Metadata of MDF Objects" scenario;
  2. Assign to a MDF Object;
  3. Open the Object in Manage Data (or Manage Positions) and execute any transaction that would trigger the rule;
  4. Observe the rule is not triggered. It is not even displayed in Rule Trace.

Cause

Expected behavior.

These rules are applicable only to the latest UIs, such as the Latest People Profile..

Latest MDF UI framework required by the Rules for Metadata of MDF Objects scenario is not supported in Manage Data / Manage Positions. As such, the current rule configuration cannot be executed in this context.

Resolution

  1. Create a MDF UI and assign to the object. Please follow the steps of KBA 2211616 - How to Configure a UI for an Object in Meta Data Framework - [MDF];
  2. Create an UI Rule for this transaction. Refer to 2314757 - How to set up Configuration UI Rules.
