Symptom

  • In Display IAM Apps, the IAM app displays only the title from the query application created using View Browser.
  • In Custom Catalog Extensions, the IAM app displays only the title from the query application created using View Browser.
  • In View Browser, both title and subtitle are mandatory during query application creation.
  • In Manage KPIs and Reports, both title and subtitle are mandatory during Multidimensional report creation

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Applications:

  • View Browser
  • Manage KPIs and Reports > Multidimensional report
  • Display IAM Apps
  • Custom Catalog Extensions

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Display IAM Apps.
  2. Search for the query/multidimensional report application created using View Browser/Manage KPIs and Reports application.
  3. Observe the result: the IAM app name shows only the title without the subtitle
  4. Optional: Open Custom Catalog Extensions, search by the same query application, and observe the same behavior.

Cause

The behavior is as designed: 

  • Display IAM Apps displays only the tile title, it does not display the subtitle. Subtitle is a property of the Fiori tile and is not stored in or displayed by the IAM app.
  • In View Browser/Manage KPIs and Reports application, during application/multidimensional report creation both title and subtitle are mandatory. The reason the Subtitle field was made mandatory is related to ensuring consistency across translations. If the Subtitle were optional and left empty while creating the app in the primary language, then the Subtitle would also have to remain empty for all subsequently maintained language versions. Allowing subtitle to be maintained only in some languages while the source language is empty would lead to inconsistencies during the app publishing process. The Subtitle field was made mandatory as part of the app creation flow to ensure consistent multilingual maintenance and avoid publishing inconsistencies.

Resolution

  1. Maintain a clear, descriptive, and unique title for the query app/multidimensional report app tile when creating or updating the app, so the intended app name appears in Display IAM Apps/Custom Catalog Extensions applications.
  2. If displaying a subtitle (or additional text) in Display IAM Apps/Custom Catalog Extensions apps is required, please submit a feature request through the standard influence channel for evaluation (2963059 - How to Submit Feature Requests for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition - SAP for Me)
