3781294 - Cannot Continue Through Contingent Worker 'Manage Pending Hires' Draft - Employee Central

When selecting a Contingent Worker (CWK) draft in 'Manage Pending Hires', filling in the first section's information and selecting 'Continue' to proceed to the next section, nothing happens - the page loads for a second and then stops, and does not proceed to the next section as expected.

1. Log into environment
2. Go to 'Manage Pending Recruits' / 'Manage Pending Hires'
3. Select 'Drafts (Contingent Worker)' from the drop-down in the top right
4. Select the pending recruit to be processed
5. Enter the details in the first section
6. Click Continue - unable to continue any further, the page briefly loads and then nothing happens (the network logs reveal an application error)

An onChange rule is triggering (during the process of the original drafting of the hire), which is causing the templateId of the hire template to be set to 'null' when it is drafted - due to this, selecting 'Continue' to proceed with the hire template causes it to break.

This is a known issue which is being investigated by our Engineers in ECT-275543, and is scheduled for resolution with 2H 2026. A patch, PTCH-50869, is also being processed in the meantime, scheduled for August 25th 2026 in Preview, August 27th for Production, as per patch schedule 2605p19. You can inquire with your CSM to track these accordingly.

In the meantime, the workarounds are as below:

1. The Contingent Worker hire can be processed through 'Add Contingent Worker' without being drafted - the onChange rule therefore will not affect any draft since no draft is saved to be processed later
2. When processing the candidate through 'Add Contingent Worker' initially (prior to draft), a rule trace can be configured to track the rules triggering during the process up to the point it is drafted:

   2. Once the candidate is drafted and the issue is confirmed to occur, the rule trace can be reviewed to see the onChange rules triggering during the process
   3. The onChange rule causing the issue can be identified (this may take some trial and error by turning on and off rules one at a time and testing) and can be disabled to prevent it from triggering
