3781645 - Document Number Field is Required for Form FS-545 (Certification of Birth Abroad) in I-9 Section 2 - Onboarding

When completing I-9 Section 2 in Onboarding and selecting Form FS-545 (Certification of Birth Abroad issued by the U.S. Department of State) as the List C document, the system requires a value in the Document Number field. However, Form FS-545 does not contain an individual document number.

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

1. Open I-9 Section 2 for a new hire.
2. Under List C, select Form FS-545 – Certification of Birth Abroad issued by the U.S. Department of State.
3. Observe that the Document Number field is mandatory.
4. Attempt to submit without a value, or enter "N/A".
5. The system blocks submission with a validation error.

The Document Number field is mandatory for all List C document types in SAP SuccessFactors. The system does not currently have a document-type-specific exception for Form FS-545, which is a physical document that does not carry an individual document number by design.

Enter FS-545 (the form name) in the Document Number field. This satisfies the mandatory field requirement and allows the I-9 and E-Verify submission to proceed.

This is the accepted workaround for this document type.
