3782283 - Custom Field value help not available for Web GUI/Web Dynpro applications - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608

Symptom

  • The custom field is created with type "Code List based on CDS View" or "Association to Business Object".
  • The custom field defined is visible in the Web GUI/Web Dynpro application but does not provide value help (F4).

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a custom field type "Code List based on CDS View" or "Association to Business Object".
  2. Open the Web GUI or Web Dynpro application.
  3. Locate the custom field added.
  4. Attempt to use value help (F4) on the custom field.
  5. Observe that no value help is offered.

Resolution

Before SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608,

  • Custom fields type "Code List based on CDS View" or "Association to Business Object" do not provide a value help for supported Web GUI / Web Dynpro applications based on business context availability.

After SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608,

  • Newly created custom fields type "Code List based on CDS View" or "Association to Business Object" provide a value help for supported Web GUI / Web Dynpro applications based on business context availability.
  • Existing custom fields have to be republished in customizing tenant, and transported through the landscape (test and production tenant) to support this functionality.
  • If your development system still in 2602 but test system is already upgraded to 2608, please wait until all systems upgrade to same version and then republish and transport the custom field.
