3782652 - HTTPS configuration for SAC Cloud Agent

Symptom

Inquiry whether HTTPS can be enabled for the SAC Cloud Agent (currently using HTTP) to increase security.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Import Data Connections (Acquiring Data)

Resolution

PLEASE NOTE: SSL/TLS configuration on web/application servers (including Apache Tomcat) is outside the scope of SAP Support for the SAC cloud agent/processor.

If you decide to proceed, configure SSL/TLS on the Apache Tomcat server that hosts the SAC Cloud Agent. Refer to: Apache Tomcat SSL/TLS Configuration How-To.

Assess whether enabling HTTPS is necessary; in most cases, it is not, as communication between the agent and SAP Analytics Cloud occurs over a secure channel via the Cloud Connector and the agent is not internet‑exposed. You can learn more about Cloud Connector here: SAP Cloud Connector

The Apache Tomcat documentation also states: "It is important to note that configuring Tomcat to take advantage of secure sockets is usually only necessary when running it as a stand-alone web server."

If the agent is hosted on a different application server, follow that vendor’s documentation to enable HTTPS/SSL/TLS.
