A user can display a sales document but cannot change or maintain it.
When opening or maintaining a sales order, quotation, or related sales document function, the system may display an authorization message such as:

No authorization for maintaining sales documents in <Sales Organization> <Distribution Channel> <Division>
Message no. V1515
Authorization object: V_VBAK_VKO

In some cases, a related screen such as item configuration or another sales document function may appear to keep loading or may not open as expected.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Log on with the affected business user.
2. Open the relevant sales document app or transaction, for example VA02 or VA03.
3. Enter the affected sales document number.
4. Try to change, maintain, or access the related sales document function.
5. The system displays an authorization error such as V1515 / V_VBAK_VKO, or the related screen does not open as expected.

The assigned business role does not contain the required Sales Area authorization/restriction values for the sales document being accessed.

The relevant restriction usually includes:

• Sales Organization
• Distribution Channel
• Division
• Access type, such as display or maintain/change

For example, a user may have authorization for one Sales Organization but the sales document belongs to another Sales Organization. In this case, display or change access may fail depending on the role restriction and required activity.

The assigned business role does not contain the required Sales Area authorization/restriction values for the sales document being accessed.

The relevant restriction usually includes:

Sales Organization
Distribution Channel
Division
Access type, such as display or maintain/change

For example, a user may have authorization for one Sales Organization but the sales document belongs to another Sales Organization. In this case, display or change access may fail depending on the role restriction and required activity.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Log on with the affected business user.
2. Open the relevant sales document app or transaction, for example VA02 or VA03.
3. Enter the affected sales document number.
4. Try to change, maintain, or access the related sales document function.
5. The system displays an authorization error such as V1515 / V_VBAK_VKO, or the related screen does not open as expected.

Resolution

1. Open Maintain Business Users.
2. Search for the affected user.
3. Check the assigned business roles.
4. Identify the relevant sales role used for sales document processing or display.
5. Open the role in Maintain Business Roles.
6. Go to Restrictions / Values.
7. Search for Sales Area or SALES_AREA.
8. Check whether the required values are maintained:
   • Sales Organization = <required sales organization>
   • Distribution Channel = <required distribution channel>
   • Division = <required division>
   • Access = display or maintain/change, depending on the business requirement

If the required Sales Area is missing, assign the correct derived business role or adjust the business role restriction according to the customer’s authorization design.

After the correction, retest the same user and same sales document.
