3783611 - Warning message appears to fill required steps in C and I step - Latest Form Experience

Symptom

With Latest Form Experience when Performance Form is in a C or I step and some fields are set to be required, after clicking on Save button or after auto-save turns on, a warning message will appear to fill the required fields, even if the employee has no write permission to those fields. This warning message does not appear with Legacy Performance Management.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management 1H 2026

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In a C or I step provide none permission to item rating field to Employee
  2. In the same step set item rating to be required
  3. Enable Latest Form Experience
  4. Launch a form with the template and route it to the example C or I step
  5. Click Save or wait until auto-save turns on
  6. Warning message appears to fill out the required item rating field

Cause

This is expected system behavior. In the Latest Performance Management, clicking the Save button on the form triggers a field validation. In this example template, the ratings are required before the form is sent to the next step, so a notification appears in the bottom-left corner, but this is not an error — it simply lets the employee know which fields need to be completed before moving to the next step. This notification does not block the saving operation.

Resolution

Update the required field permission to exclude the Employee role if you don't want to show the validation notification to Employee in Latest Form Experience and launch new form.
