Symptom
The Owner (Employee Responsible) field is not populated for existing Sales Orders after an Employee Responsible is assigned to the associated Account.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Customers.
- Open Accounts.
- Select an Account and assign an Employee Responsible.
- Save the Account.
- Go to Sales.
- Open Sales Orders.
- Open a Sales Order that was created or replicated before the Employee Responsible was assigned to the Account.
- Observe that the Owner (Employee Responsible) field is not populated.
- Create or replicate a new Sales Order for the same Account after the Employee Responsible has been assigned.
- Open the newly created Sales Order and observe that the Owner field is populated.
Cause
The Owner (Employee Responsible) field of a Sales Order is determined only during the creation or replication of the Sales Order. Subsequent changes to the Employee Responsible on the associated Account are not propagated to existing Sales Orders. Therefore, previously created Sales Orders are not updated retroactively. This behavior is standard in Cloud for Customer.
Resolution
This behavior is working as designed.
Cloud for Customer does not provide standard functionality to automatically update the Owner (Employee Responsible) field of existing Sales Orders when the Employee Responsible of the associated Account is assigned or changed after the Sales Order has been created.
If the Owner must be updated for existing Sales Orders, it can be done by:
Manually updating the Sales Orders.
Implementing a custom solution using SAP Cloud Applications Studio (PDI/SDK) based on business requirements.
