3783836 - Error "Please enter another plan ID" when creating a second sales target plan for the same sales unit and horizon

• An error occurs when creating a second sales target plan for the same "Sales unit + horizon" combination.
• Error message: "Please enter another plan ID".

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to the Sales work center.
2. Go to the Sales Target Planning view.
3. Create a first target plan for a ""Sales unit + horizon" combination.
4. Attempt to create a second target plan for the same sales unit and the same horizon.

Result: Observe the error: "Please enter another plan ID".

The system does not allow multiple target plans for the same Sales unit and horizon combination.

This is expected system behaviour by-design.

The system allows only one target plan for each "Sales unit + horizon" combination.

If you need to maintain two different target types for the same "Sales unit + horizon" combination, here are two approaches you can consider:

1. Use Plan Versions within a single Sales Target Plan. Within a single sales target plan, you can create multiple plan versions (e.g., one version for "Plan 1" and another for "Plan 2"). Multiple versions can be added to the same plan but note that only one version can be active at a time, and only the active version will be available for reporting once the plan is released.
   •    Navigate to Sales → Sales Target Planning, open your existing plan ABC (Here ABC is the existing plan)
   •    Edit -> Plan structure -> Navigate to Manage plan versions, under Plan Versions, add a second version to represent the second target type (e.g., one version for "Plan 1" and another for "Plan 2").
   •    This approach allows you to maintain two sets of targets within the same plan structure, though the reporting limitation (only one active version at a time) should be considered when designing your reporting strategy.
2. Use a Different Sales Unit for the Second Target. Since the system constraint is tied to the combination of sales unit + horizon, if it is organizationally feasible, you could assign employees to a secondary sales unit and create the second target plan under that unit.
