3783954 - (ONB) I-9 Section 3 Initiated For Employee Trigger is not sent for some employees - Onboarding

Symptom

The email notification configured for the (ONB) I-9 Section 3 Initiated For Employee Trigger is not sent for one or more employees after I-9 Section 3 (Reverification) is initiated.

In affected cases:

  • An I-9 Section 2 Signed entry exists in the employee's I-9 Audit Trail.
  • The reverification process (Section 3) has been initiated.
  • No email notification is sent to the responsible team to complete the reverification.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Cause

The email recipient defined in the I-9 email template is the HR Manager (HRBP).

The email notification is triggered when the I-9 Section 3 reverification process is initiated. If the HR Manager (HRBP) is not assigned to the Employee Profile at that moment, the system cannot determine the recipient and the email is not generated.

Example:

  • I-9 reverification was initiated on 04/09.
  • At the time the process started, no HR Manager (HRBP) was assigned to the employee.
  • The HR Manager (HRBP) was assigned only after the reverification process had already been initiated.

As a result, the notification was not triggered because the email recipient was not available when the trigger event occurred.

Resolution

Ensure that the HR Manager (HRBP) is assigned to the employee profile before initiating the I-9 Section 3 reverification process.
