3784043 - Autoflow Scheduled Notification Not Sent After Planned Execution Time in SAP Sales Cloud Version 2

Symptom

A scheduled Autoflow notification is not sent because the planned execution time has already passed when the business object is updated.

  • No notification, email, or mobile alert is received.
  • The scheduled Autoflow action does not execute as expected.
  • The Autoflow execution log displays: "Scheduled record invalidated. The planned duration time has passed."
  • The issue can occur when using scheduled rules based on date-driven conditions.

Environment

  • SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create an Autoflow rule of type Scheduled Update for an Opportunity or other entities.
  2. Configure the rule to trigger N days before Date field(for example, 5 days).
  3. Configure an action to send an information email notification.
  4. Update the Date field so that the calculated execution date is today.
  5. Perform the update after the planned execution time has already passed.
  6. Save the business object.

Result

  • No notification is sent.
  • The Autoflow execution log contains the message: "Scheduled record invalidated. The planned duration time has passed."

Expected Result

  • A valid scheduled record is created and the notification is sent at the planned execution time.

Cause

This behavior is expected by design.

When a business object is updated, Autoflow re-evaluates all scheduled rules. If the calculated execution time is already in the past, the scheduled record becomes invalid and is automatically completed without executing the notification action.

A scheduled record may also be invalidated if the rule conditions are no longer satisfied during re-evaluation.

Resolution

To ensure that the scheduled notification is created and executed successfully:

  1. Verify that the calculated execution time is in the future.
  2. Adjust the Date field so that the scheduled trigger date and time have not yet passed.
  3. Alternatively, modify the Autoflow rule configuration (Time offset) to generate a future execution time.
  4. Save the business object to trigger Autoflow re-evaluation.
  5. Review the Autoflow execution log to confirm that a new valid scheduled record has been created.
  6. Ensure that all rule conditions remain true until the scheduled execution occurs.
