Symptom
After importing a BPMN XML file generated by a third-party tool (e.g. a GenAI tool such as Microsoft Copilot) into SAP Signavio Process Manager, the diagram imports without error but the visual layout is incorrect. This may include:
- Sequence flow connectors not following the waypoints defined in the file.
- Shapes appearing misplaced or incorrectly sized
- The same file rendering differently in third-party tools.
Resolution
SAP Signavio Process Manager follows the BPMN XML standard on import and renders BPMNDI content (waypoints, shape bounds) in accordance with that standard.
If the layout does not appear as expected after import, the root cause is most likely in the file itself rather than in SAP Signavio.
Note that a different rendering in third party tools is not indicative of a defect in SAP Signavio as tis is not an authoritative reference for BPMN XML rendering.
Files generated by third-party or GenAI tools are not supported by SAP Signavio. As documented in KBA 3622436, GenAI-generated BPMN XML files may not fully conform to the standard required by SAP Signavio Process Manager. SAP Signavio support is not able to provide analysis of third-party file content or guidance on how to configure external tools to produce compatible output.
To resolve layout issues, the BPMN XML file must be corrected to conform to the BPMN XML standard before importing into SAP Signavio Process Manager.
