3784255 - POD Confirmation with Partial Quantity Posts Full Delivery Quantity from Stock in Transit (SIT) in S/4HANA Cloud Public.

Symptom

When confirming Proof of Delivery (POD) with a quantity lower than the delivery quantity in a Stock in Transit (SIT) scenario, the material document generated for the stock-out from SIT is posted with the full delivery quantity instead of the POD-confirmed quantity.

Example:

  • Delivery Quantity: 2 EA
  • POD-Confirmed Quantity: 1 EA (Difference Reason: DIF02)
  • Material Document (stock-out from SIT): 2 EA (customer expected 1 EA)

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Sales Order using the app Create Sales Orders.
  2. Create an Outbound Delivery via Create Outbound Deliveries – From Sales Orders.
  3. Post Goods Issue → Material Document posts stock into Stock in Transit (SIT) with the full delivery quantity.
  4. Open the app Confirm Proof of Delivery and confirm a partial quantity with a difference reason code (e.g., DIF02).
  5. Review the resulting material document.

Observed result: The stock-out from SIT reflects the delivery quantity, not the POD-confirmed quantity.

Cause

In Valuated Stock in Transit (SIT) scenarios, the POD confirmation acts as the second step of a two-step Goods Issue. Its purpose is to clear the SIT account for the same quantity that was posted into it during the initial Goods Issue.

  • SIT is a transit clearing account — it must be fully cleared per delivery.
  • It is not possible to post a different quantity out of SIT than what was posted in.
  • POD quantity differences and reason codes are not supported for inventory posting when SIT is used. They are designed for non-SIT POD processes only.
  • The POD-confirmed quantity is reflected in the billing document, not in the stock-out posting.

Resolution

This is standard behavior.

POD quantity differences do not adjust stock when SIT is used. The invoice will still reflect the POD-confirmed quantity.

Alternative Handling:

  • Under-delivery: Create a Return Delivery for the unconfirmed quantity.
  • Over-delivery: Create a separate Replenishment Delivery.
  • If POD-driven stock adjustments are essential, consider using POD without SIT.
