3784543 - Error: "Your Entry is Too Long. Do Not Enter More Than 60 Characters" Occurs While Entering the Name of a Base Price List

Symptom

When creating a new Base Price List, entering a Name longer than 60 characters results in the following error message:

"Your entry is too long. Do not enter more than 60 characters."

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Product and Service Portfolio work center.
  2. Under Pricing, select the Price Lists view.
  3. In the Base Price List section, click New Base Price List.
  4. In the Name field, enter a value containing more than 60 characters.
  5. Observe the following error message:

"Your entry is too long. Do not enter more than 60 characters."

Cause

The Name field for a Base Price List has a fixed maximum length of 60 characters. If a name exceeding this limit is entered, the system validates the input and displays the error message.

Resolution

Use a Base Price List Name that contains 60 characters or fewer.

This is the expected system behavior. The maximum length of the Name field is fixed at 60 characters and cannot be extended.
