Interests are calculating for an account with an invoice and a payment. The payment does not balance the invoice, therefore it was posted as a partial payment, or you have cleared the invoice and posted a residual item.
It is expected that the interests are calculated on the base of the amount paid, not the amount of the invoice, because you chose to calculate interests on all cleared items or only on items cleared with a payment. Instead the entire amount of both items, invoice and payment, is considered.
