Users notice that reports, stories, or analytic applications connected to SAP BW display incorrect, technical, or unexpected characteristic names instead of the expected business-friendly names.
After transporting stories from quality to production, hierarchy nodes are shown incorrectly in charts.

Reproducing the Issue
- In the quality tenant, identify a story based on a BW live model that uses hierarchy-enabled dimensions.
- Transport the model and story from quality to production.
- Open the transported story in the production tenant.
- Observe that hierarchy nodes in one or more charts are displayed with incorrect or unexpected names.
Cause
The issue was caused by the BW-specific display settings in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) being disabled.
The following settings were found to be turned off under Administration → System → Administration → System Configuration:
- Respect text presentations that are defined at the BW Query level
- Enable un-compounded display keys
When these settings are disabled, SAC may not correctly interpret and display the BW query text presentation and compounded characteristic values, resulting in incorrect or unexpected names being shown in stories and applications.
Resolution
- Open the tenant and go to Administration → System → Administration.
- Select the System Configuration tab.
- Search for BW.
- Enable both settings:
- Respect text presentations that are defined at the BW Query level.
- Enable un-compounded display keys.
- Save the changes.
- Refresh the affected stories/reports in production and verify that hierarchy node names now display correctly.
After enabling both settings, refresh the story/report and verify the data. The correct BW names and descriptions should now be displayed.
