3786183 - Unable to maintain valuation price with more than two decimals in Purchase Requisition.

Symptom

While entering valuation price with more than 2 decimal places in Purchase Requisition an error occurs ''Input must be in format ____._ _''

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Manage Purchase Requisition or Create Purchase Requisition app.
  2. Create a new Purchase Requisition.
  3. Go to the Valuation tab.
  4. Enter a valuation price with more than two decimal places (for example, 10.00001 USD).
  5. Observe that a format/precision validation error is shown and the value cannot be saved.

Cause

Its a Standard product limitation the valuation price field in the Purchase Requisition apps is restricted to two decimal places by design entries with higher precision are not accepted.

Resolution

  • Note that increasing decimal precision for standard valuation/price fields is not configurable in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud; there is no SSCUI, CBC, or extensibility option to exceed two decimals.
  • Use the Price Unit (pricing unit scaling) to represent the same effective unit cost within the two-decimal constraint (for example, price per 100, 1,000, or 10,000 units instead of per 1 unit).
  • Example conversions: 0.01675 per 1 unit → 1.68 per 100 units; 16.75 per 1,000 units; 167.50 per 10,000 units.
  • If higher-precision pricing in standard fields is required, submit an enhancement request via the Customer Influence program.
