Symptom
In SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding, after removing a step (e.g., Provide Additional Data) from a process variant, the step continues to appear as Not Applicable for candidates who are already in the onboarding process.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- In production, remove the Provide Additional Data (Additional data collection) step from a process variant and deploy the change.
- Open an onboarding process that was initiated before the variant change.
- Navigate to the task list and observe that the Provide Additional Data step still appears with status Not Applicable.
- Compare with an onboarding process initiated after the variant change to observe the expected behavior.
Cause
This is expected system behavior.
When a candidate's onboarding process is initiated, the system schedules tasks based on the process variant configuration active at the time of initiation. Any changes made to the process variant after a candidate has been initiated are not applied retroactively. Candidates already in progress will continue to follow the original process configuration.
Resolution
To apply the updated process variant to these candidates, it is necessary to restart their onboarding process so the new task schedule can be generated correctly.
