Symptom
Direct reports are reporting to the manager’s manager even when there is an incumbent in the higher-level position.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Assign a manager to a position.
- Direct reports are initially assigned to the new incumbent as expected.
- Run the Position Management Daily Hierarchy Adaptation job.
- Direct reports are moved to report to the manager’s manager instead of the intended manager.
Cause
The intended manager is treated by the system as an onboardee due to a lingering OnboardingInfo record; the hierarchy adaptation excludes onboardees from acting as managers and reassigns their direct reports to the next higher-level manager.
Resolution
- Verify whether the intended manager has an active OnboardingInfo record (for example via Manage Data > OnboardingInfo).
- If onboarding is complete but the OnboardingInfo record still exists, remove that record so the user is no longer treated as an onboardee.
- If the issue persists, open a ticket with SAP Support under component LOD-SF-OBX-ADM.
