Symptom

System limitations or maximum threshold on the number of Catalog Profiles that can be created.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to App: Maintain Catalog Profile.
  2. Create a new Catalog Profile (or copy an existing one).
  3. Assign the required catalog types and code groups to the profile.
  4. Save the profile.

Resolution

There is no hard technical limit enforced by the system on the number of Catalog Profiles; creation is not technically restricted.

Note:

  1. Catalog Profile entries are stored in a customizing table; keep the number of entries optimized. As practical guidance, about 500 entries should not cause major issues.
  2. There are no technical or configuration limitations specifically preventing creation of Catalog Profile entries.
  3. Configuration tables are fully buffered, the number of records should be optimized.
    Any dropdown functionality related to such a configuration might become inconsistent when the dataset grows very large.
