Symptom
The Background Check activity portlet appears blank and does not display any information after a background check is initiated. This behavior can occur when the external vendor identifies a validation error, such as HTTP 400 or HTTP 422, with messages including "Error encountered. Please report to support." or "order account check FAILED"
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Move the candidate to the Background Check status.
- User initiates the background check.
- The background check porlet remains blank and no error response is displayed.
Cause
This behavior occurs when an invalid or incomplete request payload is sent to the external vendor (data issue), resulting in a validation failure and an error response (for example, HTTP 400 or HTTP 422).
By design, error responses returned directly by the vendor during the initiation process are not persisted in SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting. Consequently, no error details are available for display in the user interface, and the corresponding portlet may appear blank.
Resolution
This behavior is expected based on the current product design. Error responses returned directly by the vendor during the background check initiation process are not persisted in SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting -in case there is a data issue- and, therefore, are not displayed in the background check portlet.
To resolve the issue, review and correct the request data being sent to the vendor, such as package selections, picklist values, or other payload information, and then re-initiate the background check.
A blank background check portlet following initiation typically indicates that the vendor rejected the request due to a data validation issue. In such cases, review the vendor logs or contact the vendor directly to obtain the specific error details.
If there is a business requirement to persist and display vendor validation errors within SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting, consider submitting an enhancement request through the appropriate product feedback channel.
