3787325 - A11y: Screen Reader Announces "rich text area frame" Instead of Associated Label for Rich Text Editor Field – SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management

Symptom

  • Screen reader only announces "Rich text area frame" instead of "overall comments rich text area… multi line editable".

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

  • Product: SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals
  • Operating system: Windows 11
  • Browser: Chrome 145.0.7632.117

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Turn on Screen Reader.
  2. Log in to the application.
  3. Open the home page.
  4. From the user menu, select the intended user.
  5. Open the year-end appraisal form at the final step where "Associate confirmation of discussion" is present.
  6. Select "Associate comments" under "overall comments".

Cause

The label is not programmatically associated with the rich text editor field, violating WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), so the screen reader announces only the generic control.

Resolution

  • A product fix is planned to address the missing label association for the rich text editor field.
  • The fix is scheduled for release B2H2026 with the following dates: Preview on 12-Oct-2026 and Production on 13-Nov-2026.
  • If the issue persists after the release, contact support and reference this KBA.
