3787467 - Error opening story via direct link but works through folder navigation/Authentication errors due to blocked pop-ups –SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • When opening a story via a direct URL, an error appears immediately.
  • Opening the same story by navigating through the folder structure works.
  • Issue affects specific users/browsers only.
  • Errors observed in console:
  • [ERROR] [LWMD] - fetchSystemCapabilities Action Failed, falling back to reading from dataModel
  • [ERROR] Error: User has no access to the remote system view:[_SYS_BIC][x.y.CUBE_ID][CUBE_ID]

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise (2026.8.6)
  • Live connection to Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a browser and access a story using a direct URL.
  2. Observe that authentication-related errors occur and the story does not open.
  3. Open the same story by first going to the home page and navigating through the folder structure.
  4. Observe that the story opens successfully.

Cause

Blocked browser pop-ups/redirects prevented the required authentication to the live data source when opening the story via a direct URL, leading to authorization errors.

Resolution

  1. Open the browser’s site settings for Pop-ups and redirects.
  2. Add the SAP Analytics Cloud tenant URL to the allow list.
  3. Add the SAP Datasphere tenant URL to the allow list.
  4. Save the settings and restart the browser.
  5. Reopen the story using the direct URL and confirm it loads without errors.
