3788835 - Unable to select specific Excel Worksheet using SharePoint import connection in SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

- Unable to select a specific worksheet when importing an Excel file via the SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) SharePoint/OneDrive connection; SAC automatically chooses one sheet without a prompt.  
- The workbook contains two sheets. Initial upload selected one sheet; after reordering sheets, SAC selected the other sheet.  
- Behavior is inconsistent and depends on internal detection and/or sheet order.

Reproducing the Issue

- Create an Excel file with two sheets: Sheet 1 and Sheet 2.  
- Upload the file to SAC via the SharePoint connection.  
- Observe SAC automatically selects one sheet as the source.  
- Change the order of worksheets and re-upload.  
- Observe SAC selects a different sheet; no option is offered to manually choose the worksheet.

Cause

This is a product limitation. The SharePoint file acquisition flow in SAC does not support selecting a specific worksheet; SAC automatically chooses a single candidate sheet based on internal detection, and worksheet order can influence the selection.

Resolution

  • Use a clean import file containing only the intended raw data (single table) and place it on the first worksheet.
  • Remove auxiliary sheets from the import workbook or keep them only in a separate version.
