Symptom
- The "Onboarding New Hire" flag is not removed after hire (often observed after a position/data change).
- Managers see the user as "Onboarding New Hire – Inactive" while administrators see the user as active.
- Inconsistent display of onboarding status across roles.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Latest People Profile
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the user's People Profile.
- Observe the "Onboarding New Hire" flag even though the user has already been hired.
- Proxy as the user's manager.
- Open the same user's People Profile.
- Observe "Onboarding New Hire – Inactive" appearing for the manager view.
Cause
HRIS Sync and ConvertExternalUserOnStartDateJob jobs are scheduled to run in overlapping time windows. Due to this overlap, the user's worker type remains "ONB", which keeps the "Onboarding New Hire" indicator visible.
Resolution
- Review the Provisioning schedule for HRIS Sync and the ConvertExternalUserOnStartDateJob jobs.
- Adjust schedules to ensure these jobs do not overlap. Maintain a clear gap between them (for example, run one job and allow sufficient time to complete before the other starts).
- For users already impacted (flag persists and worker type remains "ONB"), contact SAP Technical support to run the backend remediation script to clear the onboarding indicator and correct the worker type. Note: customers cannot run this script.
