3789104 - Items Count After Data Collection File Upload

Symptom

You upload a file in the system via data collection. Upon completion of the upload, you check the task log and notice that the items count has doubled or tripled the amount of data record in the file.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the app Data Monitor.
  2. Select the consolidation group or consolidation unit XXX (XXX stands for the consolidation group / unit ID).
  3. Select the cell under the Data Collection column.
  4.  Select Update or Test Run.
  5. Upload the file.
  6. Once the run completes, select the notification icon to open the new notification for the task log.

You notice that the Items show a number which is two or three times the number of data record in the file.

Cause

Every item in the file has two or three messages. Hence the number of items after the upload is the number of messages per item multiply by the number of items.

Note: The number of items doubled or tripled is an example. The number of messages per items in the file will affect the number of items uploaded.

Resolution

This is the normal expected system behaviour.
The items number is not the number of processed rows.
The number above the table is the number of rows in the table.
The number in the tree is the number of messages.
If there are two or three messages for almost every item in the input file, then the number of items shows doubled or tripled the number of items in the file. Hence this is correct.
