3789485 - Duplicate bom entries created when editing with change number in Maintain Bill of Material (Version 2) - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • When changing a bill of material (BOM) with a change number in Maintain Bill of Material (Version 2)/F1813A, the system creates separate BOM entries per change, each with its own validity period.
  • Once  make a change to a BOM using a new change number on a given day, it is mandatoryto continue using the same change number for any subsequent changes to that BOM on the same day. This means that only one change number can be used for a BOM per day.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In app Maintain Bill of Material (Version 2)/F1813A, create a BOM using a change number (valid-from date maintained).
  2. Change a component quantity using a different change number with a later valid-from date.
  3. Save the BOM.
  4. Open the BOM in F1813A and observe another BOM entries for the same material/plant/usage/alternative, each tied to different change numbers and validity periods. The BOM header change number reflects the later change number.

Cause

It is known issue in current version.

Resolution

  1. It will be fixed in HFC04, targeted to reach systems by 14 September 2026.
  2. For scenarios that require a change number, use Maintain Bill of Material /F1813 as a temporary workaround.
