Symptom
When the position has a future-dated change in position title, the custom token [[CT_Position]] in offboarding email templates is populating the future position title value instead of the employee's current position title value.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Make future-dated change to Position Title.
- Initiate offboarding for employee who is in the same position.
- Go to Email Services > Email Status.
- Open an offboarding email (e.g. Offboarding Task Completion email) triggered for the terminated employee.
- Observe that the custom token [[CT_Position]] reflects the future-dated position title value.
Cause
Token is getting future value when effective date of employee's termination is after the effective date of position change.
Per current design, SuccessFactors offboarding emails are workflow notifications tied to the termination event, and all tokens (including position) are resolved as of the termination effective date rather than the date the email was triggered or sent.
The intention is that the email represents the state of the employees at the time they actually leave.
Resolution
If do not want the changed position title to appear, kindly ensure the position change does not take effect before (or on) the termination effective date, or adjust the timing of the position change.
