3790403 - Variant configuration is opening in display mode for Intercompany sales orders in Change sales orders - VA02

When opening variant configuration of an intercompany sales order from 'Change sales orders - VA02', it is opening in display mode, instead of change mode.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Create a sales order for a configurable material in an intercompany make-to-order process.
2. Open the sales order in the 'Change Sales Order' app.
3. Navigate to the item’s variant configuration screen.
4. Observe the configuration opens in display mode and characteristic values cannot be changed.

By design restriction for make-to-order advanced intercompany sales, after the sales order is saved, the configuration (as well as delivery plant and requirement type) cannot be changed. consequently, the variant configuration screen opens in display (read-only) mode for saved items that remain intercompany-relevant. For make-to-order with or without variant configuration, the following restrictions apply:

• After the sales order is saved, the delivery plant, configuration, and requirement type cannot be changed.

1. For future orders, complete all necessary configuration changes before saving the sales order.
2. If the order item has already been saved and the configuration is locked, reject the item and create a new item with the required configuration.
3. Submit a feature request in the Influence portal to have this content delivered by standard in a future release.
