3790865 - Recalculation alert for start/end time when switching from Duration to Clock Times recording method

Symptom

  • Recalculation alert appears: “Time data with invalid start or end times was detected: timeDataEntry=TimeData{date=XXXX-XX-XX category=ATTENDANCE origin=UNKNOWN minutes=* start=XXXX-XX-XXT00:00:00.000 end=XXXX-XX-XXT00:00:01.000 type=* costCenter=* costCenterCode=* fund=* fundCode=* grant=* grantCode=* budgetPeriod.”.
  • Occurs when switching Time Recording Method from Duration to Clock Times. 
  • Triggered when a Single Record Approval entry is recorded on the last day under Duration. 
  • Observed with Flexible Approval period configuration. 
  • Reproducible when a cross-midnight work schedule is used for the Clock Times method.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Ensure the user is has Duration Method and Time Recording Profile with Flexible Approval Period.
  2. In Job Information change Time Recording Variant to Clock Times, use Time Recording Profile with Flexible Approval Period and cross-midnight work schedule
  3. On the last day under the Duration method, enter a Single Record Approval entry.
  4. Recalculation Time Alert is raised: “Time data with invalid start or end times was detected: timeDataEntry=TimeData{date=XXXX-XX-XX category=ATTENDANCE origin=UNKNOWN minutes=* start=XXXX-XX-XXT00:00:00.000 end=XXXX-XX-XXT00:00:01.000 type=* costCenter=* costCenterCode=* fund=* fundCode=* grant=* grantCode=* budgetPeriod.”

Cause

Resolution

The fixes carry meaningful risk. The affected area sits in the core timesheet calculation logic, and changes there could unintentionally affect other customers/scenarios. The risk outweighs the benefit here.

Workaround

If the work schedule of the first day does not require cross-midnight recording, please assign non-cross-midnight temporary work schedule for the first day.

No workaround if the cross-midnight is required for the first day of clock-time recording
