3791361 - Cells become non-editable after data entry and show 'locked by data locking' despite open state

Symptom

  • Input-able cells become disabled immediately after data entry in a planning table.
  • When “Reason for Unplannable Data” is enabled, the message shown is: “Locked by Data Locking. You can choose to toggle ‘Ignore Data Locks’ from the menu in order to edit this cell, but you will not be able to publish any changes made on it or on any other locked cells.”
  • The affected cell combinations are actually in Open state.
  • If “Data Locks” display is enabled in the table, the cells are editable again.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud Version 2026.8.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the planning story in view mode.
  2. Enter a value in the parent cell.
  3. Observe that the input cell becomes non-editable and shows the message about being “Locked by Data Locking”, even though its locking status is Open.
  4. Enable table option to display “Data Locks”.
  5. Observe the cell becomes editable again.

Cause

A change introduced for performance improvement of data lock display caused the system to incorrectly recognize the data locking status after data entry.

Resolution

The fix is planned with version 2026.15.4.

  • Workaround before the permanent fix: In the table, enable the display of Data Locks (Table Functions -> Show/Hide -> Data Locks) to prevent cells from turning non-editable after input.
