3791425 - Error : "Consumption quantity must not be greater than available quantity of X (KBA: KB0668478)" When Consuming Multiple Project Stock Order Items

Symptom

When Consuming Multiple Project Stock Order Items, system displays an error message as, "Consumption quantity must not be greater than available quantity of X (KBA: KB0668478)"

 (X represents consumption quantity of the Project Stock Order).

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Project Management work center.
  2. Under Project Stock Orders view, choose Show by Documents sub view.
  3. Select a Project Stock Order ABC (ABC represents Project Stock Order ID).
  4. Choose Consume button.
  5. Enter a Consumption Date.
  6. Choose Confirm And Close.

 Error message appears as : Consumption quantity must not be greater than available quantity of X (KBA: KB0668478).

Cause

  • A defect in the Project Stock Order consumption process causes the system to incorrectly handle multiple item consumptions.
  • When multiple items are selected and consumed in a single time, the application fails to process all items collectively, resulting in validation errors.

Resolution

  • A correction has been added to the product backlog to address this issue.
  • After the correction is deployed, consuming multiple line items within a Project Stock Order in a single transaction will be processed correctly without triggering validation errors.

Until the fix is available, consume the Project Stock Order items individually.

  1. Go to Project Management work center.
  2. Under Project Stock Orders view, choose Show by Documents sub view.
  3. Select a Project Stock Order ABC (ABC represents Project Stock Order ID).
  4. Choose Edit.
  5. Select a single item.
  6. Choose Consume.
  7. Enter the Consumption Date.
  8. Choose Confirm And Close.
  9. Repeat the same steps for each remaining item.

Continue until all items are consumed.
