3791783 - "Structure Grade Not Active; Select Active Grade" Error During Employee Termination

When attempting to terminate an employee, the system displays the following error message:

"Structure grade not active; select active grade".

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Personnel Administration work center.
2. Open the Employees view.
3. Select the affected employee.
4. Open the Personnel File.
5. Select Terminate Employee.
6. Enter the required termination details.
7. Select Save.
   The error “Structure grade not active; select active grade.” is displayed.

The error occurs because the compensation structure or the grade assigned to the employee is inactive. During the termination process, the system validates the employee’s assigned grade and requires an active grade to complete the termination successfully.

1. Open the Personnel Administration work center.
2. Open the Employees view.
3. Select the affected employee.
4. Open the employee’s Personnel File.
5. Navigate to the Compensation File.
6. Select Edit.
7. Open Compensation Grades.
8. Check the status of the assigned Compensation Structure and Grade.
9. If the assigned structure or grade is inactive, select the available Activate option or radio button.
10. Select Save.
11. Retry the employee termination.

If the activation option is not available:

1. Open Compensation Structure Assignment.
2. Select an appropriate active Compensation Structure ID.
3. Ensure that an active Grade ID is assigned.
4. Verify that the Grade ID has the correct validity period.
5. Select Save.
6. Retry the employee termination.

Note: Updating the Compensation Structure Assignment does not automatically update the individual compensation components. If required, maintain the compensation components separately.
