3792192 - Project Person Responsible not Populating When Creating a new Project From Template

Symptom

Missing Project Person Responsible when creating Project from a template.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

To check Person Responsible in Template:

    1. Go to the Project Management work center.
    2. Go to Templates view.
    3. Search for Project Template ABC (ABC - refers to Project Template ID).
    4. Select Edit Button.
    5. Person Responsible is maintained in the template.

To Create New Project from Template:

    1. Go to Project Management work center.
    2. Select New Project under common tasks.
    3. Maintain the Project Type.
    4. Select Source: Template.
    5. Choose Template ABC.
    6. Select next Button.

Person Responsible field is empty and not populated to the new Project

    Cause

    • This is expected behavior. During creation of project from a template, the system copies structure (phases, tasks, milestones) and can copy planned work and attachments, but it does not copy or auto-populate the Project’s Person Responsible.
    • The Person Responsible maintained in the Template is the Template's Person Responsible not the person to be maintained as Project's Person Responsible.

    Resolution

Currently, there is no standard configuration or functionality to populate the Project Person Responsible from a Project Template. Turn to SAP BYD Influence Forum for new requirement proposals:  https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/campaign/896
