• The Material Group column is appearing blank in the Material Document Overview Fiori app;
• The corresponding material document contains valid data in the Material Group field;
• Despite the data being available in the material document, it is not displayed in the Material Document Overview app.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The Material Group field in the Material Document Overview app is only populated when the material document line item references an actual material number backed by a material master record. When a Purchase Order line item is created as a text-based / account-assigned service item (no material number, only a material description text), no material master record is referenced.
This is standard system behavior.

No corrective action is required. The behavior is by design.

• If the Material Group must be visible in the Material Document Overview, ensure that the originating PO line item references a real material number with a valid material master record. The system will then derive and display the Material Group accordingly;
• For service items or free-text PO lines without a material number, the Material Group field will remain blank in the app.
