3792307 - Standard Fields Cannot Be Hidden in Edit Mode in Service Documents

When trying to use Adapt UI to hide standard fields, groups, or sections in a service document — for example, the Description field in the Manage Service Quotations app — while in Edit mode, the adaptation options for standard fields are not available or cannot be applied. 

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Manage Service Quotations app (F4251).
2. Open an existing service quotation or create a new one.
3. Switch to Edit mode.
4. Start Adapt UI and try to hide the field “Description” in the General Data section.
5. Observe that hiding the standard field is not possible in Edit mode.

The Manage Service Quotations app (and similar service document apps) uses different UI technologies for Edit mode and Display mode. This has a direct impact on Adapt UI capabilities:

• Display mode (Fiori): full UI adaptation is supported. Standard fields, groups, and sections can be hidden, moved, or reorganized freely.
• Edit mode (CRM Web UI): UI adaptation is restricted. Standard fields, groups, and sections cannot be changed. Only custom fields can be adapted.

As a consequence of these two separate UI layers, custom fields must also be enabled independently for each mode. A custom field enabled for Display mode will not automatically appear in Edit mode, and vice versa.

This is standard behavior in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Hiding standard fields in Edit mode via Adapt UI is not supported.

If the requirement is to hide a standard field in Edit mode, submit a Feature Request via the SAP Customer Influence portal, under product SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, describing the business need and the specific field and app involved. This request is reviewed by our product management team and can be included in future releases.
