3792536 - Asset Under Construction (AuC) not automatically created or assigned correctly despite Investment Profile being assigned to WBS Element - S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • A WBS element in an Investment Project shows an investment profile assigned (visible on the Control tab → Investment section), but the "Asset Under Construction ID" field is blank.
  • AuC is created and appears in the above field. However, errors such as KD205 -  "Maintain settlement rule for sender" and FINS_IM_EVENTBASED 002 – "No asset under construction assigned to WBS element" occurs when performing postings and settlements related to the WBS element.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Post costs to an existing investment WBS element that has an investment profile assigned but no AuC.
  2. Observe the error: "No asset under construction assigned to WBS element".
  3. Alternatively, perform settlement for this WBS via app Run Settlement
  4. Observe error "Maintain settlement rule for sender" in the application job log for the settlement run.

Cause

The AuC is not properly created/assigned for the affected WBS Element.

Resolution

  1. Remove the assigned investment profile from the affected WBS element and then re-add it again. This action triggers creation/assignment of the missing AuC for the WBS Element.
  2. After the AuC is created, retry the cost posting.
