3792607 - Modified Product Description Not Updated in Sales Order Reports and Data Source Reports

Symptom

The system did not update the Product Description that was modified while creating the Sales Order in the Sales Order Reports and Data Source Reports.

Reproducing the Issue

To View the Modified Product Description

  1. Go to the Sales Order work center.
  2. From the Overview, select Create New Sales Order.
  3. Enter the required details in sales order ABC (ABC represents the Sales Order ID).
  4. Navigate to the Items tab.
  5. Add Product XYZ and change the description in the Description field to DEF (XYZ represents the Product ID and DEF represents the modified description).
  6. Save the Sales Order.

The newly created Sales order ABC will display the Product description as XYZ - DEF.

The status of sales order ABC must be In Progress or Completed to view the corresponding sales order reports.


To View Sales Order Report  

  1. Go to the Sales Order Work Center.
  2. Navigate to the Reports view.
  3. Under All Reports, select Sales Order Volume Extended.
  4. In the Selection Fields, enter the required details, such as Sales Order, Sales Order Item, Product Type, and Product Category.
  5. In the View section, select Product Category and Product Type.

Observe while selecting the Sales Order Item as a selection field, the line item along with its modified description is available for selection as DEF.
However, the system allows the modified description to be selected as a filter but does not allow it to be displayed in the report.

Additionally, there is no separate field available in the report to display the Product Description.

For Sales Order ABC, the report displays the initial description of Product ID XYZ instead of the modified description.

Cause

The Product data is retrieved from the Product Master Data and not from the Sales Order. Therefore, the system displays the product description maintained in the Product Master Data.

 
 



Resolution

This is the expected system behavior.
