3792662 - Rehire on old employment: start date and event reason revert to previous employment in new hire data – Successfactors Onboarding

• In rehire on old employment, the candidate start date and event reason in New Hire Data revert to the previous employment’s start date and a different event reason.
• The changed event reason may show a prior action (for example, address change, termination, or staff reduction) instead of the expected rehire reason.
• After correcting the start date and event reason in New Hire Data, submitting can produce error messages.

• Rehire mechanism: Rehire with Old Employment (ROOE)

1. Log into the instance.
2. Go to the Onboarding dashboard and locate a rehire with old employment candidate.
3. Open Action > New Hire Data.
4. Observe that the Hire Date shows the previous employment start date and the Event Reason is changed to a prior employment reason.

A pre-existing active Job Information record (for example, inserted by an external import such as OData API or HRIS Sync) existed for the user. When ROOE inserted the new hire record, the system detected multiple active job records, which are not allowed, and deleted the newly inserted ROOE record. As a result, New Hire Data reflects the prior employment start date and event reason.

1. Ensure the user’s Job Information history is clean before proceeding with ROOE:
2. Grant “View History” and “Delete” permissions for Job Information to the appropriate role.
3. Navigate to Employee Profile > Job Information > History.
4. Delete any corrupted/overlapping job information timelines so that the latest record is a termination, enabling ROOE.
5. Reinitiate the rehire with old employment process and complete New Hire Data with the correct start date and event reason.
6. Prevent reoccurrence:
7. Review external integrations (for example, OData API jobs and HRIS Sync or other imports) to ensure they do not insert unintended or overlapping active Job Information records.
8. Adjust integration logic/schedules to avoid creating active records that conflict with ROOE timelines.
