3793229 - After the 2608 upgrade, an error is raised upon pressing the button 'Propose Item' during the creation of a sales order

ABAP runtime error 'ASSERTION_FAILED' is raised in program CL_RAP_GOAL_SO_ITEM===========CP, after executing the 'Propose Items' function during sales order creation.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Complete Product Proposal setup and assign it to a Customer.
2. Open App: Manage Sales Orders - Version 2.
3. Enter the sales document type OR and sales area data.
4. Enter the sold-to party for the customer configured in step 1.
5. Enter the header data.
6. In the Items section, choose button [Propose Items].
7. An ABAP runtime error is raised.

The change in behavior has been attributed to the recent upgrade to CE2608.

A correction has been identified and is planned to be deployed to customer systems on the 12th of October 2026. Please note that this date represents the current planned deployment. It is subject to change and not guaranteed by SAP. 

As a workaround, app Create Sales Orders (VA01) can be used to create the sales order. The proposal items will be displayed and can be selected there.
