3793893 - Error when creating query in Story Report Query Designer: "We found an error while creating the query in the database" - Learning Module

An error occurs while creating a query on Learning module in the database within Story Report Query Designer.

Error message: "We found an error while creating the query in the database. For assistance, please contact your administrator or the SAP Product Support team, if needed."

SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics

1. Navigate to Report Center.
2. Select Create.
3. Select Story.
4. In the data source dialog, choose the LMS connection.
5. Select Item schema (or any other schema).
6. Select some columns.
7. Preview or Save the query and observe the error "We found an error while creating the query in the database. For assistance, please contact your administrator or the SAP Product Support team, if needed."

• The calculation view used by the Story query was invalidated, indicated by the (t -1) status in the repository/runtime.
• This can occur if the view was modified but not reactivated, or if a dependent object (referenced view/table) was dropped, altered, or became inactive.
• This can occur after instance refreshes.

1. Refresh the LMS metadata for the affected People Analytics connection from Provisioning:
   • Run the job: Refresh LMS Live Connection.
   • Run the job: Refresh LMS Reporting Metadata.
2. Wait for it to finish
3. Test again by selecting columns and using Preview or Save in Query Designer.
4. If the issue persists, check system logs for invalidated views showing (t -1).
5. Reactivate the affected calculation view and ensure all dependent objects are active and consistent.
6. Re-run the query preview/save to confirm the fix.
