3794040 - Profit center substitution fails during sales order creation in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

Profit center is configured to be substituted from sales office via the "Manage Substitution/Validation Rules - Journal Entries" (F4406) app, but during sales order creation no profit center is determined.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the "Manage Substitution/Validation Rules - Journal Entries" app.
  2. Configure a substitution rule to set Profit Center based on Sales Office.
    • Business Context: Profit Center Derivation in Sales Documents 
    • Event: Sell from Stock and Advanced Intercompany Sales
    • Precondition: "Sales Office" Equal To "A"
    • Substitution: "Profit Center" Substitution with Constant "B"
  3. Create a sales order and enter a Sales Office A that matches the rule precondition.
  4. Observe that the Profit Center B is not derived in the sales order.

Cause

One of the reasons is that the event of the substitution rule did not match the actual process, so the rule did not execute. 

Resolution

Substitution/Validation Rules for Sales Documents are divided into two events:
  • Sell from Stock and Advanced Intercompany Sales Process
  • Intercompany Sales Process

Verify the event assigned to the profit center substitution rule for sales documents.

  1. If the relevant sales orders follow the standard "Sell from Stock" (or Advanced Intercompany Sales) process, create or adjust the rule under the event "Sell from Stock and Advanced Intercompany Sales Process".
  2. If the scenario follows the "Intercompany Sales Process", ensure the sales order is created using that process so the corresponding event executes.
