3794641 - Error 1053 when starting SAP ASE Backup Server as a Windows Service - SAP ASE

Symptom

When attempting to start the SAP ASE Backup Server as a Windows Service, the following error is returned:

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

The Backup Server may start briefly and then terminate.

Environment

SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise 16.0 / 16.1 on Windows.
