eDocument set to “Invalid File” with message no. EDOCUMENT_EU_CII009;

ERR.xml shows “error on line & at column &&&&: PCDATA invalid Char value 2” in History tab from eDocument Cockpit app.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the eDocument Cockpit app.
2. Search for the affected eDocument.
3. Observe process status “Invalid File” and Message no. EDOCUMENT_EU_CII009.
4. Open the History of the eDocument.
5. Open the ERR.xml from History.

Observe the XML parsing error: “error on line & at column &&&&: PCDATA invalid Char value 2”.

A language encoding issue: special characters and/or SAPscript formatting within document text are included in the payload, introducing invalid characters into the XML.

1. Open the affected billing document in Display Billing Document (transaction VF03).
2. Edit the header text (and any free-text fields mapped to the e-invoice).
3. Remove all bold/underline/SAPscript formatting and any special/control characters so the text is plain.
4. Save the document.
5. In eDocument Cockpit, reprocess the eDocument to regenerate the XML and resubmit via Peppol.
6. Verify the eDocument processes without the “Invalid File” status;
