3796298 - Error : "Retirement not possible; individual material is obsolete" when scrapping fixed assets

System is throwing an Error when performing complete scrapping of fixed assets:
"Retirement not possible; individual material is obsolete"
"Journal entries for journal entry voucher cannot be simulated"

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
2. Go to the Fixed Assets view and select the relevant fixed asset.
3. Choose Manual Posting > Complete Scrapping.
4. Enter the intended document and posting dates.
5. Click Simulate.
6. Observe the errors: "Retirement not possible; individual material is obsolete" and "Journal entries for journal entry voucher cannot be simulated".

The individual materials (IMATs) associated with the affected fixed assets are set to status "obsolete".

1. Identify all fixed assets that raise the error "Retirement not possible; individual material is obsolete" during complete scrapping.
2. Verify the status of the associated individual materials (IMATs) for these assets.
3. If the individual material status is "obsolete", request support to update the IMAT status to "active" in the backend with your approval for backend correction.
4. After the status is updated to "active", return to Fixed Assets and perform Manual Posting > Complete Scrapping for the affected assets.
5. Simulate and complete the retirement.
