Symptom
When configuring a benefit, if the benefit enrollment can be edited ('Enrolment Edit Allowed' = Yes), opting out of the benefit can be allowed ('Allow Opt Out Of Enrolment' can be set).
When setting this value, there are multiple options: 'No Selection', 'No', 'Yes, Read-Only Effective Date' and 'Yes, Editable Effective Date'.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Resolution
If the benefit is configured with 'Allow Opt Out Of Enrolment' set as 'Yes, Read-Only Effective Date', then when opting out of the benefit, the Effective Date of the Opt-Out is not editable and reflects the current date/today.
If the benefit is configured with 'Allow Opt Out Of Enrolment' set to 'Yes, Editable Effective Date', then the date of the Opt-Out can be edited as per customer needs.
If the benefit does not have 'Enrolment Edit Allowed' set to 'Yes', or the 'Allow Opt Out Of Enrolment' is set to 'No Selection' or 'No', the benefit cannot be manually opted out of.
However, the benefit can still be opted out of if an Exception is created which allows opting out of the benefit. In this case, the Opt-Out configuration matches that of the benefit - for example, if an exception is made for a benefit but the benefit has 'Allow Opt Out Of Enrolment' set as 'No Selection', 'No' or 'Yes, Read-Only Effective Date', the Opt-Out effective date is not editable and takes the current date/today as the date. If the benefit has 'Allow Opt Out Of Enrolment' set as 'Yes, Editable Effective Date', the Opt-Out effective date can be edited as needed.
