3797493 - Benefits usage reporting job fails with error "cannot invoke ...getbenefitschedule() because benefit is null"

Job “Benefits Usage Reporting Job” fails during execution with error message: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "com.successfactors.benefitsmanagement.bean.benefits.Benefit.getBenefitSchedule()" because "benefit" is null.

1. Go to Manage Scheduled Jobs and create a new job.
2. Select job type “Benefits Usage Reporting Job”.
3. Specify a benefit and a person id in the job parameters.
4. Fill the remaining required fields and save/run the job.
5. Observe the job fails with the error: Cannot invoke "…Benefit.getBenefitSchedule()" because "benefit" is null.

A product defect in the Benefits Usage Reporting Job led to a NullPointerException during processing when the job attempted to access a benefit schedule.

Our engineering team is planning to deliver a fix for this in the 2H2026 release. For Preview environments the release will be applied on October 12th 2026 and for Production on November 13th 2026. 

After upgrading, rerun the Benefits Usage Reporting Job to confirm successful completion.

If the problem persists after the upgrade, review benefit data consistency (for example, benefit schedules) and contact support with updated logs.
