3797533 - New Purchase Order Item Not Picking New Profit Center

Symptom

Newly created Purchase Order items assigned to a WBS element after an organizational change show the previous Profit Center.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Perform an Organizational change that updates the Profit Center on a WBS element.
  2. After the reorganization is completed, create a new Purchase Order item and assign the same WBS element.
  3. Check that the Profit Center on the new Purchase Order item display the old Profit Center value.

Cause

The Manage Organizational Changes application only processes documents that exist and are valid during the reorganization steps, it does not subsequently include or update documents created afterward. For newly created Purchase Order items, Profit Center derivation is performed in Cost Object based on the Purchase Order document date.

Resolution

The new Profit Center is only applicable to the new Purchase Order, it will only be applicable to new Purchase Order items if the validity date of the Profit Center is before the Purchase Order document date, otherwise the Profit Center will be substitute by the Profit Center valid at the time.
